August Book Club: Official vote

By

After compiling all of the suggestions that lovely readers left here, on Fable, Instagram, and TikTok, we finally have eight books to choose from!

To nobody’s surprise, The Odyssey‘s premier saw an increase in interest towards Greek mythology and Homer’s translations. The Song of Achilles and two literary translations of The Odyssey made its way into social media suggestions, and I’m glad to see that we might be returning to classics before, or after, watching what seems to be the Film of the Year.

Other titles, like Funny Story by Emily Henry, Pool House by Mary H.K Choi and The Shampoo Effect have made their way back into yet another poll. They have been suggested for the last three polls, and curiosity is getting the best of me.

Three new and exciting titles, however, include Confused Girl: Find Your Peace in the Chaos by Giovanna Silvestre, who reached out wondering if we would be interested in reading it for our next Online Book Club meeting. Silvestre is the second author to get in touch with a keen interest in joining our discussions! The second new title is The Touch of Breeze by Pritilata Nandi, a fellow writer here on WordPress who suggested it when I began asking for book titles. We also got a new addition: Beginning Middle End by Valeria Luiselli. A novel that’s quickly becoming a new favorite and trending on social media for good reason. One that I’d love to discover myself.

This might be one of the most exciting pool of options in 2026. I can’t wait to see what we end up reading. Vote below and join us in August on Fable to be a part of a growing community of seasonal readers.
