Day 15

It’s 7:53. I caught a seat in the subway on a Monday morning. First win of the week. Although I am late, and the wave of punctual workers probably passed on the train I heard rush past me as I approached the station. I sit down next to a lovely lady who’s reading a physical book, another rarity.

My book! I left it at home.

In this entire series, today marks the first time that I’ve picked up a physical copy rather than reading on my Kindle or my phone (for convenience, this month’s theme), and I left it behind.

To make up for lost time, I decide that writing today’s update as the day goes on is the best way to document it. A 12-hour day awaits, and I’m trying to focus on the hour ahead, no more than that.

The thought of returning home just in time to catch Spain’s opening match in the World Cup crossed my mind, and I can’t tell whether it’ll keep me going today or remind me how much I just want the day to pass. That’s the usual dilemma when looking forward to things in my house.

Expected reading time: 20 minutes between 7 and 8 p.m.

Part of my day is done, and I have already decided that today’s page count is allowed to remain at 0.

I might change my mind once I get home, but right now, as I sit in a humid bus, all I want to do is get home, shower, and try to grab some free time before it scatters all over the place.

I just need to get through tomorrow. That’s all.

I’m proud of everything else I did today. Reading can keep being my protected pastime.

I missed my stop.

Turning back around.

I don’t think my day will.
