Day 6
It’s a Saturday, and I had more free time than I knew what to do with. And yet, I read 35 pages. That appears to be the daily average page count for me, at least outside of summer break.
Today’s chapters could’ve carried me to the very last page, which is why I decided to dive in again tomorrow. I decided to spend most of my afternoon growing the community, posting on social media, and writing. Since I managed to balance out my projects, I won’t consider today a failed reading day.
My plan for tomorrow, though? Wake up early enough to appreciate the fact that I’m not actually going anywhere. 6 a.m. might do the trick. I’ll prepare a cappuccino on the coffee machine that my partner’s mother gifted us, and I’ll smoke my first cigarette to Casey and Oscar’s date.
If it doesn’t rain, I’ll bring my book with me and read during my commute to a lake that truly removes me from the city. Buildings shrink into homes, and bridges blur into dirt paths within 5 stops in the opposite direction. A Hugo spritz, the hope for a residual tan, and a few hours outside of my own head: that’s the plan.
For the rest of the evening, I’ll be watching Michael Jackson: The Verdict and attempting to forget tomorrow’s actual to-do list.
Today´s highlight:
‘Yeah, I know. A novel is a long story with something wrong with it,’ she quotes. It’s a line that gets passed around and attributed to a variety of writers.
